Julián Álvarez will miss Atlético Madrid's trip to face Sevilla on Saturday. The Argentine forward is absent as his future remains uncertain, having missed three consecutive days of training with the squad.

Atlético manager Diego Simeone confirmed the news in his pre-match press conference. "Obviously, Julián won't be available tomorrow," Simeone stated. The coach maintained his stance, saying he hopes to help the player continue being a vital part of the team. "Once Julián returns to train with us, we will give him everything we've always given him to make him feel, as he has felt, important," he added.

The club had earlier this week stated Álvarez was "unwell" on Wednesday. His prolonged absence has fueled speculation over a potential transfer. Barcelona have publicly expressed interest, but Atlético issued a firm statement saying there is a "zero percent chance" of the Argentine moving to Camp Nou.

Simeone referenced the club's position. "I think the club was very firm and clear in everything they explained [regarding Álvarez's situation] and in everything that is going to happen," the Argentine said. He insisted the media saga is not affecting the squad's focus. "Honestly, no. I don't see that. The players are working very well," he affirmed.

Attacking Absences

Álvarez's absence compounds the loss of Norwegian striker Alexander Sørloth, who is sidelined with a muscular issue. Simeone made it clear that this is the attacking pair his team needs this season. "Those of Julián Álvarez and Sørloth," he replied when asked about the characteristics he looks for in an important striker.

Facing this shortage, the team will look for collective solutions to create danger at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Atlético arrive after a 2-2 home draw with Villarreal, a match in which Álvarez came on as a second-half substitute and was whistled by a section of the home support. The forward, who scored 20 goals in 49 appearances last season, left the pitch alone while his teammates applauded the crowd.

Simeone believes the relationship with the fans can still be salvaged. "In life you can revert everything as long as you have health," he remarked. While his future is resolved, Sevilla prepare to host a rival weakened in attack. The Andalusian side will seek their first win in their fixtures list after starting the league campaign with a draw.

The match between Sevilla and Atlético Madrid will be played this Saturday at 9:00 PM local time at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium.
