Sevilla is moving forward to close a deal that will facilitate the departure of Tanguy Nianzou and drastically reduce the wage bill. The defender has been given permission to resolve his future in France.
What happened?
The Sevilla board has decided to let him leave for free if he finds a club there, since he has one year left on his contract and his net demands exceed eight million euros per season.
Why is it important for Sevilla?
Nianzou is the biggest individual impact on the squad's salary cap, with an annual cost of 12 million euros once amortization is included. In comparison, Arouna Sangante, Juan Iglesias and Jon Guridi, along with the renewal of Odysseas Vlachodimos' loan, add up to around seven million euros.
What's next?
The intention is to give him the freedom to find a way out in his home country, where his previous stages at PSG and Bayern are still playing in his favor. Any agreement will depend on him passing medical tests and adjusting his economic expectations to those of a new club. Sevilla is currently 13th in La Liga, with 43 points and a goal difference of -14, after losing their last game against Celta Vigo on May 23, 2026.
