Sevilla FC returned to training on Monday at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios with a severely reduced group of just ten first-team players, due to the international break. The team, fifth in La Liga with 13 points, is preparing for the return to competition on 12 October against Levante.

Head coach Luis García Plaza led the morning session with the players not called up by their national teams. Those present included Marcao, Fábio Cardoso, Julio Díaz, José Ángel Carmona, Jon Guridi, Manu Bueno, Chidera Ejuke, Alfon, Peque, and Isaac Romero. To complete the session, García Plaza "decided to complete the training with a large representation of players from the División de Honor".

Absences and recoveries

The break also serves for several players to recover from physical issues. Rubén Vargas and Lucas Stassin continue their respective rehabilitation processes and did not take part in the group session. Kike Salas, meanwhile, carried out individual work away from the group and is expected to rejoin collective training in the coming days.

Six first-team players are absent to join their national teams. Goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos is with Greece, Fran González with the Spain U-21s, Arouna Sangante with Senegal, Gabriel Suazo with Chile, Giorgi Kochorashvili with Georgia, and Robbie Ure with Scotland. Additionally, youth player Nico Guillén, called up by the Spain U-19s, took a knock in the Sevilla Atlético match and will be assessed by the Federation's medical services.

The team now faces three weeks of specific preparation for the clash in Valencia. Levante, the opponents on the 12th, currently sit 17th in the table. Sevilla enter this period following a home defeat to Barcelona (1-3) on 19 September, a result that left the Andalusian side eight points off the top. The squad aims to maintain the strong start to the season, which includes wins like the one secured at Riazor against Deportivo.
