Sevilla FC is one of the oldest football clubs in Spain, with a rich history dating back to the late 19th century. Research conducted by the Sevilla FC History Department has found press documents that prove the practice of football in Seville in 1890. In that year, the newspaper 'La Provincia de Huelva' published a letter written by Isaías White J.R. as 'secretary of the Sevilla Football Club', in which he invited Huelva Recreation to play a football match in the city of Seville. The match was played at the Hipódromo de la Sociedad de Carreras de Caballos, in the Dehesa de Tablada, and has been considered by the RFEF as the first football match played in Spain. The club's president at the time was Edward Farquharson Johnston, British vice-consul in Seville. The club is considered the predecessor of the current Sevilla FC. In 1901, the magazine 'Los Deportes' from Barcelona assured that football had been established in Seville with the appearance of the first Hispalense footballers. However, it was not until 1905 that this group of enthusiasts of the growing sport activated the process to officially register their association. October 14, 1905, became the official date of the Sevilla FC. Three years later, in 1908, the first news about the birth of the Sevilla youth team emerged, with around 80 young people divided into five teams that played at the Prado de San Sebastián field. The new Sevilla FC was in full growth and played several matches against Recreativo de Huelva. In 1910, Sevilla FC began competing in the unofficial Andalusian Cup, against Recreativo and the newly born Sevilla Balompié. The club debuted its trophy cabinet with the II Ayuntamiento de Sevilla Cup, played at the Campo del Mercantil, the first regulated field in Andalusia. The club's president at the time was José María Miró Trepats. On January 1, 1913, the new Sevilla FC field was inaugurated, located on the municipal land of the Prado de San Sebastián. On October 21, 1918, the team changed its headquarters, moving to a new field. Over time, Sevilla FC became one of the most important football clubs in Spain, with a large number of titles and recognition.
