Sevilla FC have opened their doors to a group of RFEF coaches for a knowledge-exchange initiative that will culminate with them attending the upcoming La Liga match against Deportivo Alavés. The Andalusian club, sitting sixth in the table with 17 points, welcomed five coaches from the federation's 'Formación Itinerante Entrenadores' project for a short working cycle. The team, with 17 goals scored and 19 conceded, trails league leaders Barcelona by 13 points.
The coaches Irene Ferreras, José María Salmerón, Rubén Pulido, Mikel Llorente and Raúl Jardiel were able to observe first-team training sessions first-hand and hold direct meetings with the coaching staff and squad representatives. The initiative aims to foster continuous learning and the exchange of experiences among professionals.
Sevilla head coach Luis García Plaza highlighted the value of such activities. "It's good, when you're not training and sometimes you don't know how to use your time, to be able to go and watch a colleague train," he explained. The manager also stressed the constant evolution of the profession. "For me, the term continuous training is perfect, when you see how I train compared to how I did 20 years ago it has nothing to do with it," he added.
This hands-on experience comes at a key moment for the team, which is looking to find consistency after an irregular start to the league campaign with five wins, two draws and four defeats. Their recent form over the last five matches reads two wins, one draw and two defeats, a sequence that includes the 0-3 cup win at Hortaleza and the 2-0 victory over Osasuna. Their next fixture is precisely the match the visiting coaches will attend: the home game against Alavés at the Sánchez-Pizjuán this Friday 6 November. The Basque side currently sit 11th in the standings.
The visit serves as a valuable formative break while the team prepares for an important stretch of the schedule. Sevilla are coming off a 3-1 defeat to Getafe on Sunday 1 November, a result that interrupted a positive run of two consecutive league wins. The team will aim to get back to winning ways against Alavés, rounding off a week of work that has combined sporting preparation with institutional openness.
