Match with REBI Cuenca
Cajasol Sevilla BM Proin is preparing for its first commitment of the new training week, scheduled for Wednesday, August 26 at 20:00 hours. The match will take place at the home of REBI Cuenca, a rival from the same category. The team from Cuenca arrives at the game with more mileage in the preseason, after winning the Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha 2026 trophy last weekend, beating Sanicentro BM Guadalajara and Caserío Ciudad Real in a triangular.
For Antonio García’s players, the test will be demanding: the goal is to gauge the growth of the squad after the first weeks of work and to test the adaptability of the new signings. The 36-32 defeat against Benfica in the first preseason test, in Portuguese territory, made it clear that the team needs to fine-tune its preparation before the official season starts.
Semifinal in San Fernando
The second commitment will take place on Saturday, August 29 at Bahía Sur, San Fernando. At 11:00 hours the Andalusian Cup semifinal, Memorial Miguel Ángel González Gómez, will be contested against Trops Málaga, a Primera Nacional side. The match will be held at the Memorial Miguel Ángel González Gómez stadium, where Cajasol Sevilla BM Proin will seek to advance to the tournament final.
Trops Málaga, with a more extensive preseason track record, will pose an additional challenge. A win in this phase will allow Cajasol Sevilla BM Proin to reach the final on September 5 in Puente Genil, where they will face the winner of the other semifinal between Cajasol Ángel Ximénez Puente Genil and Dólmenes Antequera.
Path to the Final
With these two matches in just four days, Cajasol Sevilla BM Proin can accumulate minutes, fine-tune playing mechanisms and test the level of a newly refreshed squad after the promotion they are preparing for the big leap to Spain’s top handball division. The August 26 match against REBI Cuenca and the August 29 semifinal in San Fernando will mark the start of the route to the September 5 final in Puente Genil.
