Lucas Stassin is in a race against time to be fit for Sevilla FC's LaLiga match at Levante on Monday. The Belgian forward is recovering from a myofascial injury to his right long adductor, sustained in the win over Deportivo, which also kept him out of the Barcelona game. The player attended a talk by head coach Luis García Plaza on Wednesday before doing individual gym work alongside Iker Muñoz and Marcao.
His intention is to be in the squad for the match next Monday against Levante. The club is managing his return with extreme caution to prevent a setback. "The club does not rule out the forward making it for Monday, but we are maintaining prudence regarding the state of his injury," García Plaza explained. A final decision will depend on his response in training over the coming days.
Stassin's absence has offered more minutes to other forwards. Robbie Ure, now in Seville and set to join the group on Thursday, is an option for the coach after his Scotland debut, though he is yet to score for the Andalusian side. Meanwhile, Isaac Romero, who scored Sevilla's only goal in the Trofeo Antonio Puerta defeat to Aston Villa and has one league goal, remains a regular option from the bench. The competition for attacking spots can be followed in the detail of the squad page.
The team heads into this fixture after the international break sitting fifth in the table. Their recent form has been mixed, with two losses in their last two matches, including the 1-3 defeat to Aston Villa.
Several players have already rejoined group training after international duty, including Odysseas Vlachodimos, Arouna Sangante and Giorgi Kochorashvili. They will soon be joined by Robbie Ure and Gabriel Suazo, while Rubén Vargas continues to increase his training load normally. The match against 17th-placed Levante is scheduled for Monday, 12 October.
