Sevilla FC have returned to training with their focus set on the upcoming La Liga match against Levante UD. The team managed by Luis García Plaza completed a session at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios on Thursday, following a more extensive than usual workout on Wednesday after three days off.

The Andalusian side, fifth in the table with 13 points, are looking to get back to winning ways after two consecutive defeats. Their last result was a 1-3 home loss to Aston Villa, with a goal from I. Romero in the 53rd minute. They now face a Levante side sitting 17th, in a match to be played on Monday 12 October at 21:00 at the Ciutat de València.

Squad updates

The return to work has seen several internationals come back. Goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, defender Arouna Sangante and midfielder Giorgi Kochorashvili have rejoined group training. Meanwhile, full-back Fran González, who returned last week and played in the Antonio Puerta Trophy, continues to train normally alongside others like Kike Salas and Rubén Vargas.

However, the injury list remains a concern. Defenders Marcao and Lucas Stassin remain sidelined, while youth team defender Iker Muñoz has been dealing with physical issues for several weeks. Stassin is also doing individual work.

Pending returns

Two players are still to link up with the squad. Chilean full-back Gabriel Suazo, who played 92 minutes in his national team's friendly win over Mexico in Los Angeles, and Scottish forward Robbie Ure, who played 87 minutes in Scotland's Nations League loss to Slovenia, must complete their returns. The club has not given a specific date for their full reintegration.

Sevilla manager Luis García Plaza has kept the focus on preparation. "Continúa con la vista puesta en el desplazamiento a tierras valencianas para la octava jornada de LALIGA EA Sports," the coach said. The team needs to start picking up points again after an inconsistent league start, with four wins, one draw and two losses from seven games, and a record of 10 goals scored and 9 conceded.

The loss to Barcelona (1-3) on 19 September, with an early goal from Youssouf Fofana, and the draw with Espanyol (1-1) are part of that recent form. Sevilla, who are eight points behind the leaders, have a clear opportunity to get back on track against a direct rival in the lower part of the table. The match against Levante is the next step in a season seeking consolidation.
