Sevilla has added the first Guerreros Spatanos Solidarity Race to its calendar, with the event set for November 7 at Parque del Alamillo. Organised by the Asociación Aspata5, the race aims to raise funds and awareness for research into the rare genetic disease SPATA5.
The non-profit association, founded in May 2023 and affiliated with the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases, has planned a programme featuring multiple runs. It includes an approximately 5km adult race, a 300m MiniGuerreros run for children, an inclusive 50m race for people with disabilities, and a solidarity march. Organisers have set an initial target of at least 500 participants for this inaugural edition.
The day will also feature children's activities, entertainment, music, raffles, a solidarity market, and a food stall, aiming to create a festive community event. This initiative highlights the club's social commitment during a challenging sporting period. Sevilla, sitting sixth in La Liga with 14 points, face Osasuna at home on October 26th following an inconsistent run of one win, one draw, and three defeats in their last five matches.
The team, having scored 14 goals and conceded 16 in the league this season, approaches this community event on the back of a heavy 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid on October 18, where a consolation goal was scored by Manuel Bueno Sebastián. This result is part of a recent sequence that includes a 3-3 draw with Levante on October 12, featuring goals from Robbie Ure, Felix Correia, and Isaac Romero. In the standings, Sevilla now finds itself 13 points behind the leaders, Barcelona.
Adding this race to the club's agenda reinforces its connection to the city beyond football, providing a platform for community solidarity as the team works to regain consistency on the pitch.
