Sevilla FC failed to find the net and were held to a goalless draw by Deportivo Alavés on Friday in the twelfth round of LaLiga. Luis García Plaza's side, sitting sixth with 17 points, earned a point that keeps them in the European qualification mix but halts their momentum after the loss to Getafe. This goalless draw with Alavés on 6 November is their latest result, leaving their season record at five wins, two draws and four losses.

Juan Iglesias, a player for the visiting side, acknowledged his team's effort. "We did enough to win," he stated after the match. Sevilla's coach, Luis García, highlighted the collective work. "We are in a very good dynamic of work and effort. We give everything in every match and I think that was seen today." he explained.

The match at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán was the first time this season Sevilla have failed to score. Alavés goalkeeper Sivera was key, saving a penalty taken by Sevilla forward Vargas. For the hosts, Vlachodimos kept a clean sheet behind a defence of Sangante, Kike Salas and Alfonso. In midfield, Agoumé and Fofana tried to set the tempo, while the attack featuring Vargas, Félix and Isaac lacked precision.

This result extends Sevilla's run to just one win in their last five league games, with their recent form reading two wins, one draw and two losses. This sequence includes the 3-1 loss to Getafe on 1 November, where Kike Salas scored Sevilla's only goal, the 0-3 win at Hortaleza, the 2-0 victory over Osasuna and the 4-1 defeat to Real Madrid. The team has scored 17 goals this campaign but has also conceded 19, leaving them with a negative two goal difference. The draw leaves Sevilla 13 points behind leaders Barcelona.

Focus now turns to the next fixture, the derby against Real Betis on Saturday 22 November at the Sánchez-Pizjuán. Betis, currently fourth in the standings, will visit a Sevilla side looking to get back to winning ways in a high-stakes encounter. The last meeting between the two ended in a two-all draw at the Benito Villamarín back in March. Luis García Plaza's team will have a few days of preparation during the international break to fine-tune details and try to improve their attacking efficiency for that key clash.
